WHERE ARE YOU FROM AND WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW?

Originally from California, I’ve been in the suburban Philadelphia area since High school.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SHOOTING HEADSHOTS?

I have been working on my headshot photography since 2013.

WHAT IS YOUR LIGHTING SETUP FOR HEADSHOTS?

I use the original Peter Hurley Flex Kit by Westcott in a triangle set up of the two 1X3 and one 1X2 LED panels. For my on-location visits to animal hospitals, I also set up a pet photo booth with Westcott Solix constant lights on a colored background.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR STUDIO. DO YOU OWN IT? RENT IT? OR LIVE IN IT?

I love my little studio – it’s a rented 600 sq ft unit in a retail space that I opened in February 2020. I spent most of the pandemic building IKEA furniture and setting things up to make it perfect for my clients – for both headshots and pet sessions.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO SHOOT?

I started my photography journey in 2011: a few of my veterinary clients and co-workers had asked me to take photos of their pets. It started with dressing pets up in costumes for holiday cards and then morphed into headshots and personal branding.

WHEN DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER PH AND THE HSC?

I stumbled onto Peter Hurley in Feb 2012, when he had a post on the Grid with Scott Kelby. At the time I was focusing on upping my game to take better pet photos, but Then, I watched an FStoppers video Peter had out at the time and his teaching style really clicked for me.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO JOIN THE CREW ONCE YOU FOUND IT?

I had joined the PH2Pro group which was a precursor to the Crew and have been part of the group since. I did my first post on a headshot in 2015. Perhaps, I’m the longest, continuous Protégé member ever!

WHAT IS ONE THING PEOPLE WOULD NEVER GUESS ABOUT YOU?

I worked overnight shifts in the emergency room for the first 10 years of my veterinary career - now I can’t stay up past 9 pm.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOU?

I still enjoy my day job as a veterinarian, but my favorite days are when I go on-site to local animal hospitals and create professional images of my fellow veterinary professionals and their pets. Many of these hardworking, animal-loving folks try to hide behind their pets for branding photos, so I Love capturing images where they and their pet look amazing.
